Are you Blue?

These colors where launched in December 2013 and I'm still in love with them. Here are my makeovers on two clients using these wonderful blues. The best part was that both ladies had never even thought of trying the color blue. As you can see they are having fun with this!!! You can to!!!!

Winter Lips

 

Baby its cold outside!!! When our face is exposed to cold weather it tends to dry, get tight and sometimes peel. Which brings me to my next subject of choice "Lips".  Dry chapped lips are not cute. Keep Calm and Love your Skin

This is one of my favorite photos that i took with my cell phone. This photo is not photo shopped at all. My glowing skin (compliments of my mom and grandmother) is from drinking lots and lots of water.  So what are my tips:

1. Drink lots of water (of course)

2. Exfoliate every 2-3 days and don't forget to include your lips. ( you can also try TimeWise Microdermabrasion Set via www.marykay.com/beautydivany1

3. Remove your makeup every night (before you go to sleep)

4. Get at least 8 hours of rest.

These tips will give you glowing skin and help your foundation lay beautifully.

Natural Nails.........

 Are you taking good care of your nails????  Here are just a few at-home care tips to keep your nails in shape. Here are some Do's and Don'ts

 

 

1.Make sure you dry your hands and nails completely after washing hands. This prevents any bacteria or fungi from moving in under your nail plate.

 

2. Keep your nails(especially around the cuticle area) moisturized. After you have applied your hand cream/lotion, rub some into the cuticles too. Olive is also a nice treatment. I will make your nails stronger and protects them. you can do an oil soak at least once a week.

 

3.Keep your fingernails trim and filed regularly.

 





4. Do not abuse your nails with implements, to poke and pull on your skin.

5.Do Not Pull your Hang nails. They need to be carefully cut.

6.If you notice any color changes in your nail bed please consult a physician or dermatologist.

7. Do Not bite finger nails or remove the cuticle.

So What have I been up to?

Lashes!!!!

My clients cant seem to get enough of these and neither can I.  These are called flare/cluster lashes. They are applied one by one on the lash line as close to the natural lash as you can get. They normally last 7-10 days. I DO NOT recommend pulling them off when a cluster falls out. They shed with your natural lash. If you can get to your lash specialist you can have the space filled in or removed.

Beautiful Surprise!

This was one of the best makeovers i was privileged to do in 2013.  As a surprise her boyfriend purchase a day at the salon for her. She had a facial and makeover by moi and her hair was slayed by Porscha Star. The photo on the left was right after her facial. Her skin was glowing!!! For her makeup: I used a cream eye color as a base called Beach Blonde, Hazelnut, Moonstone, Gold Coast and Coal on the outer lid. I used eyeliner in black and ultimate mascara. New Year.......New Me.... (that's a switch lol)

Well its been a long time........alot of things have changed since we last spoke :) . For the past  5 months i have been running my own business inside a salon in queens. This has been quite an experience....... its so different when it's your own, but I'm hanging in there. So I'm gonna give my blog another chance......again.

Skin By Monica Mango & Coconut Bodywash

So I had the wonderful opportunity to try this product. I was actually saving this for the summer to enhance the beautiful weather....but since the winter was making want to get on the plane and leave town, I decided no better time then the present. With the help of my exfoliation gloves, I began my process LOL. The mango & coconut scent took me away....i heard that somewhere before. Anyway, it softened and revived me instantly. I like that fact that the it left my skin soft. A must use for those summer staycations duting this winter time. :)

The Makeup Show 2011 NYC

The Makeup Show this year was a fabulous experience. I was able to meet all  my youtube friends and twitter friends and words cannot express the wonderful connections that were made. I also made it in time to see my mentor Sam Fine! His workshop was packet. In fact it was standing room only and I stood on the side soaking everything up like a sponge.

So this Duane Reade is not your average pharmacy. It has everything from can goods to produce and house goods and a HUGE cosmetic section and The Look Boutique. Pop Nail Glam- Bright Bold polishes. These colors will definitely draw attention to your fingers. The polishes come with names like Radioactive, Twinkle and Ablaze.....who can say no?!

Pop your Lashes- Definitely for the daring! Lashes to dress up your every need. Darling for the cute divas, Twiggy for your inner icon and Fantasia for your Fantasy!!!!
Lip lacquers, eyeliners and mascara oh my.......so much to go back for lol. Fun glitters and shimmers and bronzers. They also have face primers, eye primers and lip primers.(talk about getting all areas primed lol).

Oh yeah, one more thing. I also came across this product by a company called Klorane. They make eye /makeup removers in a liquid and in wipes. What's cool about it is it's made with cornflower water. Cornflower is known for its soothing properties. Great for sensitive eyes!!!What i also found interesting is that all their products are opthamologist and dermatologist tested and safe for contact wearers....NICE!

Relax and Recharge

 Fall has arrived in NYC. I have been working so much that I decided to great my own spa oasis at home. I had used a new product named Bubalina. I decided to try the  Acai Berry Bath and Shower Gel, hand and body lotion and body scrub. This product is natural, organic, and rich with powerful antioxidants. The Acai Berry also contains amino acids that relax the muscles and allow for restful sleep.
They also have a body butter creme that is aboslutely delish! It smells wonderful and has quick absorbtion. I did find it to be very relaxing. Although my skin drinks everything up I would appreciate if they had like  a body oil. That would be wonderful and an excellent massage oil.(I'm just saying)

Avene Skincare Products

This product did wonders for me. I have natural hair and with that being said I was pressing it and the comb fell on my shoulder. I immediately applied aloe and vitamin e. I get to work the next day and I was in pain because my bra strap was resting on top of the burn. Soooo, I go to the Avene shelf and pick up the cicalfate tester and apply it to the burn. Immediately the pain went away. It felt like the burn said aaaaaaaah!.  This restorative skin cream is great for many things. I refer it to clients that get burned(of course), have cracked skin, stitches and that also just had a tattoo done. Which by the way it allows the skin to restore and not lose the color of the tattoo and skips the peeling process.

Active Ingredients: Sucralfate- which heals restores and protects and Copper sulfate, Zinc sulfate

and Zinc oxide.

This product saved my eyes (Lol). I had a reaction to Duo eyelash adhesive. Which left my eyes irritated, inflammed and sore. Yet, i was still applying my eye makeup to hide that look but when I came home it would be torture to remove my eyeshadow. I had a sample micellar lotion that i received from the rep and it removed all the eyeshadow and immediately calmed my skin. Another moment when the effected area said aaaah!.

This saved me during those HOT summer days when it was 100 degrees in NYC. I would mist this thermal water on my face and it would soothe, soften and calm my skin. It would also cool me off while I waiting for the train(uuughhhh). It also made my makeup last a little longer. While everyone was sweating bullets, I was cool and looked great.

This I recommend to anyone experiencing inflammation, itching, redness. After flying to rehydrate the skin, after exercise and shaving.

Lierac Morpho-Slim and Exfoliant Tonique

So I started today using my products from Lierac. The Morpho-Slim and Exfoliant Tonique. The aroma is delish! I began with the scrub which has a thick texture and it's seaweed green. I didnt expect it to be a color but it smells wonderful. It was smooth and instantly removed the dry skin I had on my legs. It rinsed off really well and i used the Morpho-slim while my skin was still damp(not wet). Wonderful smell also. Very light lotion but instantly the cellulite that i have on the back of my legs were smoothed out. I will be using it for the rest of the month.

Polyethelene Microspheres
Allantoin

This also has 10% caffeine in it and i think that's great. The caffeine gets in and pulls the dimples which smooths out the dents in the skin. Again, this is only day one so I will keep you posted.

SPF do you have some?

I don't how to stress the importance of coverage in this summer heat. I love the summer and look forward to mingling with the cool breezes , heat waves and frozen drinks! In the meantime our skin needs to be protected. The UVA rays cause wrinkles and fine lines and UVB rays cause burning. Men,women and children need to be protected from head to toe. Both UVB and UVA cause skin cancer in all shades. From paley pale to darkest dark. Ladies it can be worn under your make-up or all by itself. Even on an over cast day you should still apply a moisturizer with and SPF or a sunscreen. Enjoy the summer.
